Muslim narrated it in the chapter on Hajj (1324) through multiple routes from Abu Zubayr, who said, "I heard Jabir bin Abdullah," and then he related it.On this topic there is also a report from Ali bin Abu Talib. He was asked, "May a man ride his sacrificial animal?" He said, "There is no harm in that. The Prophet ﷺ used to pass by men who were walking and would order them to ride his sacrificial animal, the sacrificial animal of the Prophet ﷺ." He said, "You cannot follow anything better than the practice of your Prophet ﷺ."Imam Ahmad narrated it (979) from Aswad bin Amir, who said, Israel informed us, from Muhammad bin Ubaydullah, from his father, from his uncle, who said, from Ali bin Abu Talib, and then he related it.Muhammad bin Ubaydullah is Muhammad bin Ubaydullah bin Ali bin Abu Rafi.His father is Ubaydullah bin Ali bin Abu Rafi.His uncle, that is the uncle of Ubaydullah bin Ali bin Abu Rafi, is Ubaydullah bin Abu Rafi, the scribe of Ali.This is how Hafiz set out their lineage in Atraf Musnad (459/4), quoting from Khatib.As for Muhammad bin Ubaydullah, it is not known who he is.His father, Ubaydullah bin Ali, is weak in hadith.Ubaydullah bin Abu Rafi is trustworthy.Muhammad bin Ubaydullah is sometimes attributed to his father's grandfather, Ibn Abu Rafi, and if this attribution is correct, then he is daif, and Haythami criticized the hadith on this basis in Majma (227/3).
