He then proceeded to the place of sacrifice and slaughtered sixty-three camels with his own hand. He then handed the knife to Ali, who slaughtered the remainder, and he made Ali a partner in his sacrificial offering.
ثم انصرف إلى المنحر، فنحر ثلاثا وستين بيده، ثم أعطى عليا فنحر ما غبر، وأشركه في هديه.
Muslim narrated it in the Hajj chapter (1218) through Hatim bin Ismail Madani, from Jafar bin Muhammad bin Ali bin Husayn bin Ali bin Abu Talib, from his father, from Jabir, mentioning it in the account of the Prophet's ﷺ pilgrimage. It has also been narrated from Ali that he said, "When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sacrificed his camels, he slaughtered thirty with his own hand, and he ordered me, so I slaughtered the rest." Abu Dawud narrated it (1764) from Harun bin Abdullah, who said, Muhammad and Yaala, the two sons of Ubayd, narrated to us, saying, Muhammad bin Ishaq narrated to us, from Ibn Abu Najeeh, from Mujahid, from Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Layla, from Ali, mentioning it.Muhammad bin Ishaq is a mudallis and he transmitted this using an ambiguous form of narration. Ibn Hisham did not mention this portion of Ibn Ishaq's account in his Sirah regarding the Prophet's ﷺ departure on the Farewell Pilgrimage. Moreover, it conflicts with the hadith of Jabir in the Sahih, which states that he ﷺ slaughtered sixty-three with his own hand, then handed the rest to Ali, who slaughtered what remained, as has already been mentioned.
