Abu Dawud (2041) narrated it from Muhammad bin Awf, who said, Al-Muqri narrated to us, who said, Haywa narrated to us, from Abu Sakhr Humayd bin Ziyad, from Yazid bin Abdullah bin Qusayt, from Abu Hurairah, and he related it. Imam Ahmad (10815) and Bayhaqi in al-Kubra (5/245) both narrated it through the route of al-Muqri (who is Abdullah bin Yazid) with his chain, similarly.Its chain is hasan due to the disagreement over Abu Sakhr, though he is hasan al-hadith, and he is among the narrators of Muslim. Al-Hafiz said of him, "Truthful, but he makes mistakes." As for Yazid bin Abdullah bin Qusayt, there is disagreement over whether he heard directly from Abu Hurairah, but I have not found decisive proof that he did not hear from him, and it was possible for him to have done so, since he was born in the year 32 AH, and Abu Hurairah died in the year 59 AH.Meanwhile, Tabarani narrated it in al-Awsat through two routes, the first similar to this one (9325), and the second with the addition of "Abu Salih" between Yazid bin Abdullah bin Qusayt and Abu Hurairah (3116). He said, "No one narrated this hadith from Yazid except Abu Sakhr, and no one narrated it from Abu Sakhr except Haywa, and Abdullah bin Yazid narrated it alone." The fact that these narrators transmitted it alone does not harm the hadith, for they are all reliable, and this route strengthens the one before it.
