Adda bin Khalid reported,
I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of Arafah standing in his stirrups, calling out at the top of his voice, "People, what day is this day of yours?"They replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best."He asked, "What month is this month of yours?"They replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best."He asked, "What land is this land of yours?"They replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best."He said, "Your day is a sacred day, your month is a sacred month, and your land is a sacred land."Then he said, "Truly, your blood and your property are inviolable to you, like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this land of yours, until the day you meet your Lord, when He will question you about your deeds."Then he raised his hands toward the sky and said, "Allah, bear witness against them. Allah, bear witness against them." He repeated it many times, and I do not know how many.

رأيت رسول الله ﷺ يوم عرفة وهو قائم على الركابين ينادي بأعلى صوته: يا أيها الناس، أي يوم يومكم هذا؟ قالوا: الله ورسوله أعلم. قال: فأي شهر شهركم هذا؟ قالوا: الله ورسوله أعلم. قال: فأي بلد بلدكم هذا؟ قالوا: الله ورسوله أعلم. قال: يومكم يوم حرام، وشهركم شهر حرام، وبلدكم بلد حرام قال: فقال: ألا إن دماءكم وأموالكم عليكم حرام، كحرمة يومكم هذا في شهركم هذا، في بلدكم هذا، إلى يوم تلقون ربكم، فيسألكم عن أعمالكم قال: ثم رفع يديه إلى السماء فقال: اللهم اشهد عليهم، اللهم اشهد عليهم ذكر مرارا، فلا أدري كم ذكر.
Imam Ahmad (20336) narrated it from Yunus, who said, Umar bin Ibrahim Yashkuri told us, an elderly sheikh from Banu Aqeel, called Abdul-Majid Aqeeli, told us, he said, "We set out as pilgrims during the nights when Yazid bin Muhallab rose up. It had been mentioned to us that there was a water source in the highlands called Zajij. When we had completed our rites, we came until we reached Zajij and made our mounts kneel down."He said, "Then we went on until we came upon a group of people, elders with dyed hair, talking together. We said, 'This one who accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, where is his house?' They said, 'Yes, he accompanied him, and that is his house.'""So we went until we reached the house and greeted him. He then gave us permission to enter, and there he was, an elderly man lying down, called Adaa bin Khalid Kullabi. I said, 'Are you the one who accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?' He said, 'Yes, and were it not for the fact that it is night, I would have read to you the letter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to me.'"He said, "'Who are you?' We said, 'We are from the people of Basra.' He said, 'Welcome to you. What has Yazid bin Muhallab done?' We said, 'He is out there calling to the Book of Allah 
and to the sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ.' He said, 'What does he have to do with that? What does he have to do with that?'"He said, "I said, 'Which of these two should we follow?' meaning the people of Syria or Yazid. He said, 'If you stay out of it, you will succeed and be rightly guided. If you stay out of it, you will succeed and be rightly guided.'" I only know that he said it three times.Its isnad is hasan because of Abdul-Majid Aqeeli, whom Ibn Main and Ibn Hibban deemed trustworthy, and his hadith is hasan. Abu Dawud (1971) and Ahmad (20335) also narrated it, both from the hadith of Waki, from Abdul-Majid, in abridged form. Abu Dawud (1918) also narrated it via the route of Uthman bin Umar, from Abdul-Majid, with the same meaning. His saying "Zajij" refers to a stopping place for pilgrims between Basra and Makkah.
