The Prophet ﷺ said at Mina, "Do you know what day this is?"They replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best."He said, "This is a sacred day. Do you know what land this is?"They replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best."He said, "A sacred land. Do you know what month this is?"They replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best."He said, "A sacred month." Then he continued, "Indeed, Allah has made your blood, your property, and your honor sacred to one another, just as this day of yours is sacred, in this month of yours, in this land of yours."
قال النبي ﷺ بمنى: أتدرون أي يوم هذا؟ قالوا: الله ورسوله أعلم، فقال: فإن هذا يوم حرام، أفتدرون أي بلد هذا؟ قالوا: الله ورسوله أعلم. قال: بلد حرام، أفتدرون أي شهر هذا؟ قالوا: الله ورسوله أعلم. قال: شهر حرام. قال: فإن الله حرم عليكم دماءكم وأموالكم وأعراضكم، كحرمة يومكم هذا، في شهر هذا، في بلدكم هذا.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Hajj (1742) through the route of Asim bin Muhammad bin Zayd, from his father, from Ibn Umar, and mentioned it. Bukhari also narrated it in the Book of Manners (6166), and Muslim in the Book of Faith (66), both through the route of Shubah, from Waqid bin Muhammad bin Zayd, who said, I heard my father, from Ibn Umar, and mentioned it in abbreviated form.
