Muslim narrated it in the Book of Clothing and Adornment (2112) from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba, who said, Khalid bin Mukhlad narrated to us from Sulayman bin Bilal, from Suhayl, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, and he related the hadith. Abu Dawud (4158) and Tirmidhi (2806) both narrated it through the route of Yunus bin Abu Ishaq, who said, Mujahid narrated to us, saying, Abu Hurairah narrated to us, saying, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Jibreel came to me and said, 'I came to visit you last night, and nothing prevented me from entering the house you were in except that at the door of the house there was a statue of a man, and in the house there was a curtain with images on it, and in the house there was a dog. So order that the head of the statue at the door be cut off so that it looks like a tree, and order that the curtain be cut up and made into two cushions that are spread out and trodden upon, and order that the dog be taken out.'" So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did that. That dog was a puppy belonging to Hasan or Husayn, kept under a raised shelf of his. So he ordered it and it was taken out.Abu Dawud said, "The nadad is something on which clothes are placed, similar to a bed frame."Tirmidhi said, hasan sahih. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (5854), and he and Ahmad (8045) narrated it through this same route, and both of them added at the end of the hadith, "Then Jibreel came to me and kept advising me about the neighbor until I thought he would make him an heir."
