Ibn Abbas reported that the Prophet ﷺ did not perform ramal during the seven circuits of Tawaf al-Ifadah.
أن النبي ﷺ لم يرمل في السبع الذي أفاض فيه.
Abu Dawud (2001), Ibn Majah (3060), Ibn Khuzayma in his Sahih (2943), Hakim (1/475), and Bayhaqi (84/5) all narrated it from the hadith of Ibn Wahb, who said, Ibn Jurayj informed me, from Ata bin Abu Rabah, from Abbas, and he mentioned it. Ata said, "There is no brisk walking in it." Its isnad is sahih. Hakim said, "Sahih according to the standard of the two Shaykhs."Abu Bakr bin Abu Khaythama said, Ibrahim bin Ar'ara narrated to us, from Yahya bin Saeed, from Ibn Jurayj, who said, "When I say, 'Ata said,' I have heard it from him myself, even if I did not say 'I heard.'"It is understood from the statement of Ibn Umar, as reported in the Sahihayn, that the Messenger of Allah, when he circled the House in the first tawaf, would trot for three circuits and walk for four, and Ibn Umar used to do the same. This means that when it was not his first tawaf, such as the visiting tawaf and the farewell tawaf, there was no brisk walking in it.
