Abdullah recited the talbiyah when he set out from Jam. Someone remarked, "Is this an Arabi?"Abdullah replied, "Have people forgotten, or have they gone astray? I heard the one to whom Surah al-Baqarah was revealed say in this very place, 'Labbayk Allahumma labbayk.'"
أن عبد الله لبى حين أفاض من جمع، فقيل: أعرابي هذا؟ فقال عبد الله: أنسي الناس أم ضلوا؟ سمعت الذي أنزلت عليه سورة البقرة يقول في هذا المكان: لبيك اللهم لبيك.
