We set out in the morning with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from Mina to Arafat. Among us were those reciting the talbiyah and those reciting the takbir.
غدونا مع رسول الله ﷺ من منى إلى عرفات، منا الملبي، ومنا المكبر.
Muslim narrated it in the chapter on Hajj (1284) via Yahya bin Saeed (that is, Ansari), from Abdullah bin Abu Salama (that is, Majishun), from Abdullah bin Abdullah bin Umar, from his father, with the same wording.Muslim also narrated it via Umar bin Husayn, from Abdullah bin Abu Salama, from Abdullah bin Abdullah bin Umar, from his father, who said, "We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the morning of Arafah. Some of us recited the takbir and some of us recited the tahlil, but as for us, we recited the takbir."He said, I said, "By Allah, how strange of you! Why didn't you ask him, 'What did you see the Messenger of Allah doing?'"
