The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when descending from Safa and Marwa, would walk until his feet reached the bottom of the valley, then he would run until he had passed through it.
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان إذا نزل من الصفا والمروة مشى، حتى إذا انصبت قدماه في بطن الوادي سعى حتى يخرج منه.
Malik narrated it in the chapter on Hajj (131), from Jafar bin Muhammad, from his father, from Jabir, as mentioned. Its original form is in Sahih Muslim in the description of the Hajj of the Prophet ﷺ. In a narration of Nasai (2974), "Then he walked down until his feet came down into the bottom of the valley."
