The Prophet ﷺ performed tawaf during the Farewell Pilgrimage around the Kaaba and between Safa and Marwa while mounted on his camel, so that the people could see him, so that he would be elevated above them, and so that they could ask him questions, for the crowds had pressed in upon him.
طاف النبي ﷺ في حجة الوداع على راحلته بالبيت وبالصفا والمروة؛ ليراه الناس وليشرف وليسألوه فإن الناس غشوه.
