The Prophet ﷺ placed the Maqam between himself and the House. Ati used to say, and I do not know that he mentioned it except from the Prophet ﷺ, that he would recite in the two rakahs "Say, He is Allah, the One" [Ikhlas 112:1] and "Say, O disbelievers" [Kafirun 109:1]. Then he returned to the corner and touched it.
فجعل (يعني النبي ﷺ) المقام بينه وبين البيت- فكان أبي يقول ولا أعلمه ذكره إلا عن النبي ﷺ كان يقرأ في الركعتين: {قل هو الله أحد}، و {قل يأيها الكفرون}، ثم رجع إلى الركن فاستلمه.
