On the day of the conquest, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed the circuits mounted on his camel Qaswa, touching the corner with his staff. No place could be found in the masjid for the camel to kneel, so she was taken out to the floor of the valley and made to kneel there. Then he praised Allah and glorified Him, and said, "To proceed. People, Allah has rid you of the arrogance of pre-Islamic ignorance. People, there are only two kinds of men, the righteous and God-fearing man who is honored before his Lord, and the wicked, wretched man who is of no account before his Lord."Then he recited, "People, We created you from a male and a female and made you into peoples and tribes so that you might come to know one another" [Hujurat 49:13], reciting the verse to its end. Then he said, "I say this and I ask Allah's forgiveness for myself and for you."

It was narrated by Ibn Hibban (3828), and this is his wording, and by Ibn Khuzayma (2781), both from the hadith of Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Yazid Muqri, who said, Abdullah bin Raja narrated to us, from Musa bin Uqba, from Abdullah bin Dinar, from Ibn Umar, and he related it. Ibn Khuzayma shortened it by saying, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed tawaf on his she-camel Qaswa on the day of the Conquest, in order to touch the corner with his stick." Its chain of transmission is sahih. As for what Tirmidhi said in his Jami, in the Book of Tafsir (3270), after narrating it through the route of Jafar bin Abdullah, who said, Abdullah bin Dinar narrated to us, from Ibn Umar, and he related the hadith, "This is a gharib hadith, we do not know it from the hadith of Abdullah bin Dinar, from Ibn Umar, except by this route, and Abdullah bin Jafar is considered daif, Yahya bin Main and others declared him daif, and Abdullah bin Jafar is the father of Ali bin Madini." This is according to his own knowledge, but in fact Musa bin Uqba also narrated it from Abdullah bin Dinar, as you have seen.As for what Abu Yaala narrated (5761) through another route, from Rawh bin Ubada, who said, Musa bin Ubayda narrated to us, who said, Abdullah bin Ubayda narrated to us, from Ibn Umar, who said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed tawaf on his mount on the day of the Conquest of Makkah, touching the corners with a stick he had with him." This contains Musa bin Ubayda, who is daif, and Haythami faulted it on this basis in Majma (3/243), saying, "He has been deemed trustworthy in what he narrated from other than Abdullah bin Dinar, and this is one of those narrations."The Prophet ﷺ performed tawaf on the camel for several reasons. One is so that the people could see him and ask him questions. Another is out of dislike that people would be pushed aside on his account. Another is due to his illness, though this is not established as sahih, this being what Abu Dawud narrated (1881), and its chain of transmission contains Yazid bin Abu Ziyad Hashimi, who is daif by the agreement of the scholars. The majority of scholars disliked performing tawaf while riding without a valid excuse, based on the words of Allah Most High, "Then let them complete their prescribed duties and fulfill their vows and circumambulate the Ancient House" [Hajj 22:29]. Its apparent meaning is that the one performing tawaf should circle by himself, because tawaf is an act of worship, and whoever performs tawaf while riding has in effect been carried around, and has not himself performed the circumambulation. As for the sick person, it is permissible for him to perform tawaf while riding, without any disagreement.
