I heard Ibn Zubayr say from the pulpit, when he was about to demolish the Kaabah and rebuild it, "My aunt Ayesha told me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, 'Ayesha, were it not that your people have only recently left polytheism, I would have demolished the Kaabah and brought it level with the ground, and I would have made for it two doors, an eastern door and a western door, and I would have added six cubits to it from the Hijr, for Quraysh fell short when they built the Kaabah.'"
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Hajj (1333: 401) from Muhammad bin Hatim, who said, I was told by Ibn Mahdi, who said, we were told by Salim bin Hayan, from Saeed bin Mina, and he mentioned it.The wording given here is that of Ibn Hibban (3818), from another route through Salim bin Hayan, for Muslim did not mention "on the pulpit, when he intended to demolish the Kaaba and rebuild it."
