Muhammad bin Kaab reported,

Abu Qatada was owed a debt by a man, and he would go to him to collect it, but the man would hide from him. One day Abu Qatada came, and a young boy came out. He asked the boy about the man, and the boy said, "Yes, he is in the house eating khazirah."So Abu Qatada called out, "So-and-so, come out, I have been told that you are here."The man came out to him, and Abu Qatada asked, "Why have you been hiding from me?"He replied, "I am in financial hardship and have nothing."Abu Qatada said, "By Allah, are you truly in hardship?"He said, "Yes."Abu Qatada wept, then said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever grants relief to his debtor or cancels the debt for him will be under the shade of the Throne on the Day of Resurrection.'"
