The polytheists used to say, "Here we are, You have no partner."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would say, "Woe to you! Enough, enough!"But they would continue, "Except for one partner who belongs to You. You own him and whatever he owns."They would say this while circling the Kaaba.
كان المشركون يقولون لبيك لا شريك لك قال: فيقول رسول الله ﷺ: ويلكم! قد قد. فيقولون: إلا شريعا هو لك، تملكه وما ملك. يقولون هذا وهم يطوفون بالبيت.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Hajj (1185) from Abbas bin Abdul-Azim Anbari, who said, Nadr bin Muhammad Yamami told us, Ikrima bin Ammar told us, Abu Zumayl (who is Simak bin Walid Hanafi) told us, from Ibn Abbas, and he mentioned it.As for what has been narrated from Ibn Abbas that when he recited the talbiyah he would say, "Labbayk, Allah, labbayk. Labbayk, You have no partner, labbayk. Indeed all praise, grace, and sovereignty belong to You. You have no partner." Ibn Abbas said, This was the talbiyah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.Ahmad narrated it (2404) from Hasan bin Musa, who said, Zuhayr told us, from Abu Ishaq, from Dahhak bin Muzahim, who said, Ibn Abbas used to say, when he recited the talbiyah, and he mentioned it.Zuhayr here is Ibn Muawiya, and he heard from Abu Ishaq after the latter's memory had become confused. Also, Dahhak bin Muzahim, the author of the tafsir, never heard directly from Ibn Abbas. Imam Ahmad was asked, "Did Dahhak meet Ibn Abbas?" He said, "I do not know of it." He was asked, "Then from whom did he hear the tafsir?" He said, "They say, from Saeed bin Jubayr."
