Imam Ahmad narrated it (17158), and Tabarani in al-Kabir (18/258), both from the hadith of Ismail bin Ayyash, from Safwan bin Amr, from Abdul-Rahman bin Maysara, from Irbaz bin Sariya, and he related it.Its chain is hasan on account of Ismail bin Ayyash Himsi, for he is truthful in his narrations from the people of his own region, and this is one of them, since Safwan bin Amr, who is al-Saksaki from Hims, is trustworthy. Abdul-Rahman bin Maysara, who is Abu Salama al-Himsi as well, was deemed trustworthy by Ajli and Ibn Hibban, and a number of narrators reported from him. The one who narrated from him, Safwan bin Amr al-Himsi, was from his own region and is more familiar with him than others, so a narrator like this, his hadith is deemed hasan, especially in corroborating narrations. Otherwise, he is "acceptable" as Hafiz said in Taqrib, meaning he needs corroboration.Haythami mentioned it in Majma (10/279) and said, "Ahmad and Tabarani narrated it, and their chain is good." Munziri likewise said the same in Targhib wal-Tarhib (4/48), except that he limited it to Ahmad alone.
