We were with Talha bin Ubaydullah while we were in a state of ihram, and a bird was gifted to him while Talha was asleep. Some of us ate from it, while others abstained out of caution. When Talha woke up, he sided with those who had eaten and said, "We used to eat it with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."
كنا مع طلحة بن عبيد الله ونحن حرم، فأهدي له طير وطلحة راقد، فمنا من أكل ومنا من تورع فلما استيقظ طلحة وفق من أكله، وقال: أكلناه مع رسول الله ﷺ.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Hajj (1197) from Zuhayr bin Harb, who said, Yahya bin Saeed (that is, Qattan) told me, from Ibn Jurayj, who said, Muhammad bin Munkadir told me, from Muaz bin Abdul-Rahman bin Uthman Taymi, from his father, with the same wording, and he related it.
