The Prophet ﷺ said, while the funeral bier of Saad was placed before him, "The Throne of the Most Merciful shook for him."The hypocrites criticized his funeral, saying, "How light his bier is!" Word of this reached the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, "The angels were carrying it along with them."
Ibn Hibban narrated it in his Sahih (7032), from Hasan bin Sufyan, who said, Muhammad bin Abdul-Rahman Allaf narrated to us, who said, Muhammad bin Sawa narrated to us, who said, Shuba narrated to us, from Qatada, from Anas, and he mentioned it.Tabarani narrated it in Kabir (14/6), and Ibn Manda in Tawhid (823), both of them through another route, from Muhammad bin Sawa, from Saeed, from Qatada, and it contains, "The Throne shook at the death of Saad." Neither of them mentioned the story of the angels carrying him.Tirmidhi (3849) and Tabarani in Kabir both narrated it from the hadith of Abdul-Razzaq, and it is in Musannaf (20414), from Maamar, from Qatada, from Anas, who said, "When the funeral bier of Saad bin Muaz was carried, the hypocrites said, 'How light his bier is, because of the ruling he gave regarding Qurayza.' This reached the Prophet ﷺ, so he said, 'No, rather the angels are carrying him.'"Its chain of transmission is sahih.
