We used to set out with the Prophet ﷺ toward Makkah, and as we entered ihram we would smear our foreheads with perfumed sukk. When one of us would sweat, it would run down her face, and the Prophet ﷺ would see it but not forbid her from doing so.
كنا نخرج مع النبي ﷺ إلى مكة فنضمد جباهنا بالسك المطيب عند الإحرام، فإذا عرقت إحدانا سال على وجهها فيراه النبي ﷺ فلا ينهاها.
Abu Dawud narrated it (1830) from Husayn bin Junayd Damaghani, who said, Abu Usama narrated to us, Umar bin Suwayd Thaqafi informed me, Ayesha bint Talha narrated to me, that Ayesha, mother of the believers, narrated it to her, and then she mentioned it.Its isnad is hasan because of Abu Dawud's teacher, Husayn bin Junayd, for there is no harm in him, though he did not rise to the level of the reliable, precise narrators. Munziri also graded its isnad as hasan in his Mukhtasar.But Imam Ahmad narrated it (24502) from Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Zubayr, who said, Umar bin Suwayd narrated to us, he said, "I heard Ayesha bint Talha mention, or it was mentioned in her presence, that a person in ihram applies perfume, so she related from Ayesha, mother of the believers, that they used to go out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wearing a paste on them, having applied it before entering ihram, and then they would wash while it was still on them, sweating and washing, and he did not forbid them from doing so."This isnad has narrators who are all reliable, and by this the hadith is confirmed as sahih.
