The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered Mecca in the year of the Conquest with a helmet on his head. When he removed it, a man came to him and said, "Messenger of Allah, Ibn Khatal is clinging to the curtains of the Kaabah."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Kill him."
أن رسول الله ﷺ دخل مكة عام الفتح، وعلى رأسه المغفر، فلما نزعه جاءه رجل فقال له: يا رسول الله، ابن خطل متعلق بأستار الكعبة؟ فقال رسول الله ﷺ: اقتلوه.
Malik narrated it in Hajj (247) from Ibn Shihab, from Anas bin Malik, transmitting it as mentioned. Bukhari also narrated it in the chapter on compensation for game (1846), and Muslim in Hajj (1357), both through the route of Malik, in a similar manner.His saying, "the helmet," refers to what is worn on the head made of iron armor, similar to a cap. Bukhari titled the chapter, "Chapter on entering the sanctuary and Makkah without ihram," and did not restrict it to a specific excuse. He said, "Ibn Umar entered without ihram, and the Prophet ﷺ only commanded ihlal for one who intended Hajj or Umrah, and he did not mention it for woodcutters and others." End.
