He came to Abdullah bin Umar at his residence, where he had a tent and an enclosure, and asked him, "From where am I permitted to begin umrah?"He replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ designated Qarn for the people of Najd, Dhul-Hulayfah for the people of Madinah, and al-Juhfah for the people of Sham."
أنه أتى عبد الله بن عمر في منزله وله فسطاط وسرادق، فسألته: من أين يجوز أن أعتمر؟ قال: فرضها رسول الله ﷺ لأهل نجد قرنا، ولأهل المدينة ذا الحليفة، ولأهل الشام الجحفة.
Bukhari narrated it in the Hajj chapter (1522) from Malik bin Ismail, who said, Zuhayr narrated to us (he is Ibn Muawiya), who said, Zayd bin Jubayr narrated to me, and he related it through him.Muslim narrated it in the Hajj chapter (1182) through other routes from Ibn Umar, not through the route of Zayd bin Jubayr, and their wordings do not mention Umrah.As for his saying, "he had a tent and an enclosure," by tent is meant the khaymah, which is also what is used to cover the courtyard of a house from the sun and other things. The enclosure is what surrounds a thing, and from this comes the saying of Allah Most High, "Indeed, We have prepared for the wrongdoers a fire whose enclosure will surround them" [Kahf 18:29].
