A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "My father has died without performing the obligatory pilgrimage of Islam."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Tell me, if your father had a debt, would you pay it on his behalf?"The man said, "Yes."He said, "Then this is a debt he owes, so pay it."
Bazzar narrated it (1145 - Kashf Astar) through the route of Sadaqah bin Musa. Tabarani in Kabir (748) and Awsat (100) narrated it from the hadith of Abbad bin Rashid, both of them from Thabit, from Anas, and he mentioned it. The wording given is that of Bazzar. Tabarani's wording is, "Perform hajj on behalf of your father."Bazzar claimed that Sadaqah narrated it alone from Thabit, just as Tabarani claimed that Abbad narrated it alone from Thabit, but it is not as they claimed, rather each of them corroborated the other. Its isnad is hasan because of Sadaqah bin Musa, and because of Abbad bin Rashid's corroboration of him.
