I asked the Prophet ﷺ for permission to take part in jihad, and he replied, "Your jihad is the Hajj."
استأذنت النبي ﷺ في الجهاد فقال: جهادكن الحج.
Bukhari reported it in the Book of Jihad (2875) from Muhammad bin Kathir, who said, Sufyan informed us, from Muawiya bin Ishaq, from Ayesha bint Talha, from Ayesha, Mother of the Believers, who said (and she mentioned it). In another narration, "The best jihad is Hajj." Bukhari reported it (2876) from Qabisa, from Sufyan, from Muawiya, with this same chain. And from Habib bin Abu Amra, from Ayesha bint Talha, from Ayesha, Mother of the Believers, from the Prophet ﷺ, that his wives asked him about jihad, and he said (and he mentioned it). Ibn Khuzayma reported it (3074) through the route of Ibn Fudayl, who said, Habib bin Abu Amra narrated to us with his chain, and in it, she said, I said, "O Messenger of Allah, is there jihad upon women?" He said, "Upon them is a jihad in which there is no fighting, Hajj and Umrah."
