Abu Salama reported,

I went to Abu Saeed Khudri and said, "Why don't you come out with us to the palm grove so we can talk?"He came out, and I said, "Tell me what you heard from the Prophet ﷺ about Laylat al-Qadr."He said, The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed itikaf during the first ten days of Ramadan, and we performed itikaf with him. Then Jibreel came to him and said, "What you are seeking lies ahead of you." So he performed itikaf during the middle ten days, and we performed itikaf with him. Jibreel came to him again and said, "What you are seeking lies ahead of you."On the morning of the twentieth of Ramadan, the Prophet ﷺ stood up to address the people and said, "Whoever performed itikaf with the Prophet ﷺ, let him return to it, for I was shown Laylat al-Qadr but then I was made to forget it. It falls within the last ten nights, on an odd-numbered night. I saw myself prostrating in mud and water."The roof of the mosque was made of palm fronds, and we could see nothing in the sky. Then a small cloud came and rained on us, and the Prophet ﷺ led us in prayer until I saw the traces of mud and water on the forehead and tip of the nose of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, confirming his vision.

عن أبي سلمة قال

انطلقت إلى أبي سعيد الخدري، فقلت: ألا تخرج بنا إلى النخل نتحدث؟ فخرج، فقال: قلت حدثني ما سمعت من النبي ﷺ في ليلة القدر؟ قال: اعتكف رسول الله ﷺ عشر الأول من رمضان، واعتكفنا معه، فأتاه جبريل، فقال: إن الذي تطلب أمامك، فاعتكف العشر الأوسط، فاعتكفنا معه، فأتاه جبريل فقال: إن الذي تطلب أمامك. قام النبي ﷺ خطيبا صبيحة عشرين من رمضان، فقال: من اعتكف مع النبي ﷺ فليرجع، فإني أريت ليلة القدر وإني نسيتها، وإنها في العشر الأواخر في وتر، وإني رأيت كأني أسجد في طين وماء. وكان سقف المسجد جريد النخل، وما نرى في السماء شيئا، فجاءت قزعة فأمطرنا، فصلى بنا النبي ﷺ حتى رأيت أثر الطين والماء على جبهة رسول الله ﷺ وأرنبته، تصديق رؤياه.
