The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was traveling and stopped with his companions. He noticed some people who had set up a shaded shelter for one of their companions, who was fasting. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by him and asked, "What is wrong with your companion? Is he in pain?"They replied, "No, Messenger of Allah, but he is fasting."This was on a very hot day. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "It is not righteousness to fast while traveling."
سار رسول الله ﷺ فنزل بأصحابه، وإذا ناس قد جعلوا عريشا على صاحبهم، وهو صائم، فمر به رسول الله ﷺ فقال: ما شأن صاحبكم؟ أوجع؟ قالوا: لا يا رسول الله ﷺ، ولكنه صائم. وذلك في يوم حرور. فقال رسول الله ﷺ: لا بر أن يصام في سفر.

Tabarani narrated it in al-Kabir (part 14/13) (109) through the route of Huyayy, from Abu Abdul-Rahman, from Abdullah bin Amr, as mentioned. Its chain is hasan because of Huyayy, who is Huyayy bin Abdullah bin Shurayh al-Maafiri al-Misri, a disputed narrator, though his hadith is hasan when he does not contradict others, because Imam Ahmad said, "His hadiths contain munkar material." For this reason, I did not include in this Jami any of his hadiths that he narrated alone or in which he contradicted the reliable narrators. Haythami said in al-Majma (3/161), "Its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih." I say, Huyayy bin Abdullah is not among the narrators of the Sahih, he was only narrated from by the compilers of the Sunan.
