Masruq and I went to Ayesha and asked her, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ embrace his wives while fasting?"She replied, "Yes, but he had the most control over his desire among you," or, "he was among those with the greatest control over his desire."
انطلقت أنا ومسروق إلى عائشة رضي الله عنها، فقلنا لها: أكان رسول الله ﷺ يباشر وهو صائم؟ قالت: نعم، ولكنه كان أملككم لإربه- أو من أملككم لإربه.
Bukhari related it in the Book of Fasting (1927), and Muslim in the Book of Fasting (1106:68), both of them through the route of Ibrahim (that is, Nakhai), from Aswad, with this chain. The wording given is that of Muslim. The doubt originates from Abu Asim, as Muslim noted at the end of the hadith. Bukhari's wording is, "The Prophet ﷺ used to kiss and embrace while fasting, and he was the most in control of his desire among you."
