A man asked Ibn Umar, "How did you hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ describe the private conversation between Allah and the believer on the Day of Judgment?"He replied, "I heard him say, 'The believer will be drawn near to his Lord on the Day of Resurrection until He places His shelter over him. Then He will make him acknowledge his sins, asking, "Do you recognize this sin?" The believer will reply, "Yes, my Lord, I recognize it." Allah will then say, "I concealed it for you in the worldly life, and today I forgive it for you." Then he will be given the record of his good deeds. As for the disbelievers and the hypocrites, they will be called out before all of creation, and it will be announced, "These are the ones who lied about Allah."'"
Bukhari related it in the tafsir chapter (4685), and Muslim in the chapter on repentance (2768), both by way of Hisham Dastawai, from Qatada, from Safwan bin Mihraz, who said, "A man said to Ibn Umar..." and he mentioned it, and the wording given here is that of Muslim. His statement, "his side," means his flank and his region.
