The Prophet ﷺ said, "A woman must not fast on any day other than in the month of Ramadan while her husband is present, except with his permission."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: لا تصوم المرأة وزوجها شاهد يوما من غير شهر رمضان إلا بإذنه.
This was narrated by Tirmidhi (782), Ibn Majah (1761), Ahmad (7343), and Ibn Khuzayma (2168), all of them from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna, from Abu Zinad, from Araj, from Abu Hurairah, who related it.Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan sahih hadith. This hadith has also been narrated from Abu Zinad, from Musa bin Abu Uthman, from his father, from Abu Hurairah."I say, this second chain was also recorded by Imam Ahmad (alongside the first chain), where he said, "It was read to him" (that is, to Sufyan), "I heard Abu Zinad, from Musa bin Abu Uthman, from his father, from Abu Hurairah." So Abu Zinad had two teachers, one being Araj, and the other being Musa bin Abu Uthman. Musa bin Abu Uthman and his father, whose name was Saeed, or as some say, Imran, together made the hadith hasan.
