The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Beware of continuous fasting. Beware of continuous fasting."They said, "But you fast continuously, Messenger of Allah."He replied, "I am not like you. I spend the night with my Lord feeding me and giving me drink."
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: إياكم والوصال، إياكم والوصال. قالوا: فإنك تواصل يا رسول الله؟ قال: إني لست كهيئتكم، إني أبيت يطعمني ربي ويسقيني.
Malik narrated it in the Book of Fasting (40), from Abu Zinad, from Araj, from Abu Hurairah, and he related the hadith. It is found in Sahihayn, as follows.
