I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "While I was sleeping, two men came to me and took hold of my upper arms. They brought me to a rugged mountain and said, 'Climb.'I said, 'I cannot manage it.'They said, 'We will make it easy for you.'So I climbed until, when I reached the middle of the mountain, I suddenly heard terrible cries.I asked, 'What are these voices?'They said, 'This is the howling of the people of the Fire.'Then they took me onward, and there I saw people hanging by their hamstrings, their jaws torn open with blood streaming from them.I asked, 'Who are these?'They replied, 'These are the ones who break their fast before the time it is permitted to do so.'"The hadith continues.
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: بينا أنا نائم أتاني رجلان، فأخذا بضبعي، فأتيا بي جبلا وعرا، فقالا: اصعد. فقلت: إني لا أطيقه. فقالا: إنا سنسهله لك. فصعدت حتى إذا كنت في سواء الجبل إذا بأصوات شديدة. قلت: ما هذه الأصوات؟ قالوا: هذا عواء أهل النار، ثم انطلق بي، فإذا أنا بقوم معلقين بعراقيبهم مشققة أشداقهم تسيل أشداقهم دما. قال: قلت: من هؤلاء؟ قالا: الذين يفطرون قبل تحلة صومهم الحديث.
Ibn Khuzayma (1986) narrated it, and from him Ibn Hibban (7491), and Hakim (1/430), and from him Bayhaqi (4/216), all of them from the hadith of Bishr bin Bakr, who said, Ibn Jabir told me, who said, Salim bin Amir told me, who said, Abu Umama Bahili told me, and he related the hadith in a longer context, and it is mentioned in its proper place. Hakim said, sahih according to the standard of Muslim. I say, it is as he said, and Ibn Jabir is Abdul-Rahman bin Yazid bin Jabir. It has other paths of transmission from Abdul-Rahman bin Jabir. His saying, "before the time set for breaking their fast," means they break their fast before the time for iftar.
