We ate the predawn meal with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, then we got up for the prayer.I asked, "How long was the interval between the two?"He replied, "The time it takes to recite fifty verses."
تسحرنا مع رسول الله ﷺ ثم قمنا إلى الصلاة قلت: كم كان قدر ما بينهما؟ قال: خمسين آية.
Bukhari related it in the Book of Fasting (1921), and Muslim in the Book of Fasting (1097), both of them through Hisham (that is, Dastawai), who said, Qatada narrated to us, from Anas, from Zayd bin Thabit, and he mentioned it. The wording given is that of Muslim. Bukhari's wording is, "He said, 'How much time was there between the suhoor and the adhan?' He said, 'The time it takes to recite fifty verses.'"
