The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a date on the road and said, "Were it not that it might be from the charity, I would have eaten it."
أن رسول الله ﷺ مر بتمرة في الطريق، فقال: لولا أن تكون من الصدقة لأكلتها.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Lost Property (2431), and Muslim in the Book of Zakat (1071:165), both through Mansur, from Talha bin Musarrif, who said, "Anas bin Malik narrated to us," and he related the hadith.
