I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Charity is not lawful for a wealthy person, nor for one who is sound and able-bodied."
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: لا تصلح الصدقة لغني ولا لذي مرة سوي.
Ahmad narrated it (16594) from Abu Abdul-Rahman Abdullah bin Yazid, who said, "Ikrima narrated to us," who said, "Abu Zumayl Simak narrated to us," who said, "A man from Banu Hilal narrated to me," then he mentioned it.Haythami said in Majma (3/92), "Ahmad narrated it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih."I say, it is as he said. Abu Zumayl, with a diminutive zay, is Simak bin Walid Hanafi, one of the narrators of Muslim. Ahmad and Ibn Main deemed him trustworthy, Abu Hatim said, "Truthful, no harm in him," and Nasai said, "No harm in him." The hadith of someone like him is graded hasan.The man from Banu Hilal was not named, but the anonymity of a companion does not harm the hadith. It is established that Abu Zumayl narrated from a group of companions, among them Ibn Abbas and Ibn Umar, and from the successors, Malik bin Marthad, Urwa bin Zubayr, and others.
