The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The needy person is not the one who goes around begging from people and is sent away with a morsel or two, or a date or two."The companions asked, "Then who is the needy one, Messenger of Allah?"He replied, "It is the one who does not have enough to suffice him, yet people do not notice his condition so as to give him charity, and he himself does not stand up to ask others."
Malik narrated it in the Book of the Description of the Prophet ﷺ (7), from Abu Zinad, from Aaraj, from Abu Hurairah, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said (as mentioned). Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Zakat (1479), from Ismail bin Abdullah, who said, Malik narrated to me, with his chain of transmission. Muslim narrated it in the Book of Zakat (1039) through another route from Abu Zinad, similarly.
