The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The best charity is that given out of surplus wealth. Begin with those whom you support, and the upper hand is better than the lower hand."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: أفضل الصدقة عن ظهر غنى، وابدأ بمن تعول، واليد العليا خير من اليد السفلى.
Imam Ahmad (14531) narrated it from Rawh, who said, Ibn Jurayj narrated to us, Abu Zubayr informed me, that he heard Jabir bin Abdullah, and he related it. Its isnad is sahih. Ibn Hibban also narrated it through this route in his Sahih (3345), except that he did not mention the third section of the hadith.
