The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whatever a man spends on himself, his family, his children, and his servants is charity for him."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: ما أنفق الرجل في وأهله وولده وخدمه فهو له صدقة.
Tabarani related it in al-Kabir (8/112), from Ahmad bin al-Mualla, who said, our teacher was Hisham bin Ammar, who said, our teacher was Ismail bin Ayyash, from Buhayr bin Saad, from Khalid bin Madan, from Abu Umama, who narrated it.Its chain is hasan, due to the discussion surrounding Ismail bin Ayyash, except that his narration is hasan when he transmits from the people of his own land, and Buhayr bin Saad was from the people of his land, from Hims.The hadith has another chain (8/285), but it contains Bashir bin Numayr, who is discarded as a narrator. This is what Haythami points to in al-Majma (3/120) when he says, "Tabarani related it in al-Awsat and al-Kabir with two chains, one of them hasan."
