We used to consider "al-maaun" during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as the lending of the bucket and the cooking pot.
كنا نعد الماعون على عهد رسول الله ﷺ عارية الدلو والقدر.
Abu Dawud (1657) narrated it from Qutayba bin Saeed, who said, Abu Awana narrated to us, from Asim bin Abu Najud, from Shaqiq, from Abdullah, and he mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Asim bin Abu Najud, who is Ibn Bahdala, truthful but having some lapses, an authority in recitation, and his hadith appears in the Sahihayn only when paired with another narrator, as stated in Taqrib.
