The Prophet ﷺ said, "The example of one who takes back his charity is like a dog that vomits and then returns to its vomit to eat it."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: مثل الذي يرجع في صدقته، كمثل الكلب يقيء، ثم يعود في قيئه فيأكله.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Gifts (1622) through several routes from Isa bin Yunus, who said, Uzai told us, from Abu Jafar Muhammad bin Ali, from Ibn Musayab, from Ibn Abbas, and he mentioned it.In another version, "The likeness of one who gives a charitable gift and then takes it back is like the likeness of a dog that vomits and then eats its vomit."Muslim narrated it through several routes from Ibn Wahb, who said, Amr bin Harith told me, from Bukayr, that he heard Saeed bin Musayab say, I heard Ibn Abbas, and he mentioned it.This will come again in the Book of Gifts, in the chapter on the prohibition of taking back a gift.
