The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Every act of kindness is charity. Among acts of kindness is meeting your brother with a cheerful face and pouring from your bucket into your brother's vessel."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: كل معروف صدقة وإن من المعروف أن تلقى أخاك بوجه طلق وأن تفرغ من دلوك في إناء أخيك.
Tirmidhi narrated it (1971) from Qutayba bin Saeed, who said, "Munkadir bin Muhammad bin Munkadir narrated to us, from his father, from Jabir bin Abdullah," and he related the hadith. He said, "This is a hasan sahih hadith."Its chain of transmission is hasan, for Munkadir bin Muhammad bin Munkadir is disputed among the scholars. Abu Talib reported from Ahmad, "He is trustworthy." Muhammad bin Uthman bin Abu Shayba said, "Ali bin Madini was asked about him, and he said, 'In our view he is acceptable, but not strong.'" Ibrahim bin Junaid said the same, quoting Ibn Main. However, Abu Zura, Abu Dawud, Nasai, Juzjani and others graded him daif. The conclusion regarding him is that his hadith is graded hasan when it becomes clear that he did not err in it.Imam Ahmad narrated it through this same route (14709), as did Baghawi in Sharh al-Sunnah (6/142–143), where he said, "This is a hasan hadith."
