Abu Dharr reported,

Some of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Messenger of Allah, the wealthy have taken away all the rewards. They pray as we pray, they fast as we fast, and they give charity from the surplus of their wealth."He replied, "Has Allah not given you things by which you may give charity? Every utterance of 'Subhan Allah' is charity, every 'Allahu Akbar' is charity, every 'Alhamdulillah' is charity, and every 'La ilaha illa Allah' is charity. Enjoining good is charity, forbidding evil is charity, and in the intimacy of one of you with his wife there is charity."They asked, "Messenger of Allah, when one of us fulfills his desire, does he receive a reward for it?"He answered, "Tell me, if he had placed it in something forbidden, would he not have borne a sin for it? In the same way, when he places it in what is lawful, he earns a reward."
