The Prophet ﷺ reported, in the hadith concerning the believers seeing their Lord on the Day of Resurrection, the following:"By the One in whose hand my soul rests, you will have no difficulty seeing your Lord except as you have no difficulty seeing one of these two."He said, "The servant will be brought forth, and Allah will say, 'So-and-so, did I not honor you, give you authority, grant you a spouse, and place horses and camels at your service? Did I not let you lead and take your share?'The man will reply, 'Yes.'Allah will then ask, 'Did you suppose you would meet Me?'He will answer, 'No.'So Allah will say, 'Then I shall forget you just as you forgot Me.'Then the second will be brought forth, and Allah will say, 'So-and-so, did I not honor you, give you authority, grant you a spouse, and place horses and camels at your service? Did I not let you lead and take your share?'He will reply, 'Yes, my Lord.'Allah will ask, 'Did you suppose you would meet Me?'He will answer, 'No.'So Allah will say, 'Then I shall forget you just as you forgot Me.'Then the third will be brought forth, and Allah will say the same to him.He will reply, 'My Lord, I believed in You, in Your Book, and in Your messengers. I prayed, I fasted, and I gave in charity,' and he will praise himself with whatever good he can.Allah will say, 'Stop right there.'Then it will be said to him, 'Now We shall send Our witness against you,' and he will think to himself, 'Who is this that will testify against me?'His mouth will be sealed, and his thigh, his flesh, and his bones will be told, 'Speak.' So his thigh, his flesh, and his bones will speak, leaving him with no excuse for himself. That is the hypocrite, and that is the one with whom Allah is angry."
Muslim reported it in the Book of Asceticism and Softening of Hearts (2968), on the authority of Muhammad bin Abu Umar, who said, Sufyan narrated to us, from Suhayl bin Abu Salih, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, and he related it.Allah speaks to the believers and the hypocrites on the Day of Judgment without any interpreter between Him and them, since it is not permissible for anyone other than Allah to say to some of His servants, or to all of them, "I am your Lord," and no one other than Allah says, "I am your Lord." However, Allah the Exalted speaks to the hypocrites in a different sense than He speaks to the believers. He addresses the hypocrites in a manner of rebuke and reproach, while He addresses the believers and gives them glad tidings of what awaits them with Allah
, as is His speech to His close friends and to the people of obedience to Him.See the Book of Tawhid by Ibn Khuzayma (1/347). As for his saying, "Say," it means, so-and-so.
