The Prophet ﷺ said, "The upper hand is better than the lower hand. Begin with those you are responsible for. The best charity is what is given out of surplus. Whoever seeks chastity, Allah will keep him chaste, and whoever seeks self-sufficiency, Allah will make him self-sufficient."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: اليد العليا خير من اليد السفلى، وابدأ بمن تعول وخير الصدقة عن ظهر غنى ومن يستعفف يعفه الله ومن يستغن يغنه الله.
Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on zakat (1428) and said, "And from Wahib, Hisham informed us, from his father, from Abu Hurairah." He did not mention the wording of the hadith but rather referred to the wording of the hadith of Hakeem.His statement, "And from Wahib," is not a suspended chain, rather it is connected to the preceding chain, meaning, from Musa bin Ismail, from Wahib, with it.This is what Mizzi did in Tuhfah (10/256), and Ibn Hajar in Fath al-Bari (3/296), except that he said, "He connected the hadith of Abu Hurairah through the route of Wahib, Ismaili said, 'Ibn Yasin informed me, Muhammad bin Sufyan narrated to us, Habban, that is Ibn Hilal, narrated to us, Wahib narrated to us, Hisham bin Urwa narrated to us, from his father, from Abu Hurairah,' he said, the like of the hadith of Hakeem."His statement, "He connected... etc.," gives the impression that Bukhari narrated it as suspended, but that is not the case, and for that reason he did not mention it in Taghliq Taliq.
