An Arabi asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about migration, and he replied, "Woe to you! Its matter is serious. Do you have any camels from which you pay the charity due on them?"The man said, "Yes."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Then work from beyond the seas, for Allah will not let any of your deeds go to waste."
أن أعرابيا سأل رسول الله ﷺ عن الهجرة فقال: ويحك إن شأنها شديد! فهل لك من إبل تؤدي صدقتها؟ قال: نعم. قال: فاعمل من وراء البحار فإن الله لن يترك من عملك شيئا.
Narrated by Bukhari in the Book of Zakat (1452), and Muslim in the Book of Leadership (1865), both through the route of Walid bin Muslim, who said, Abdul-Rahman bin Amr Uzai narrated to us, Ibn Shihab Zuhri narrated to me, Ata bin Yazid Laythi narrated to me, that he told them, saying, Abu Saeed Khudri narrated to me, and then he mentioned it.His statement, "Allah will never let any of your deeds go to waste," means that Allah will never diminish any of your deeds, similar to His statement, "He will never let your deeds go to waste" [Surah Muhammad 47:35].A useful note. Ibn Hajar said, "In this hadith is the merit of paying zakat on camels, and the equating of discharging Allah's due from them with the merit of migration. For in the hadith there is an indication that if a person remains settled in his homeland while paying the zakat on his camels, this stands in place of the reward of migration and settling in Madinah."
