A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, so-and-so owns a palm tree inside my garden. Order him to sell it to me or give it to me as a gift."The Prophet ﷺ sent for the man, but he refused.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said to him, "Do it, and you will have a palm tree in Paradise in exchange for it."He still refused.So the Prophet ﷺ said, "This is the stingiest of people."
جاء رجل إلى النبي ﷺ فقال: يا رسول الله إن لفلان نخلة في حائطي فمره فليبعنيها أو ليهبها لي قال: فأبى الرجل! فقال رسول الله ﷺ: افعل ولك بها نخلة في الجنة. فأبى فقال النبي ﷺ: هذا أبخل الناس.
Imam Ahmad (23085) narrated it from Waki, who said, Amash narrated to us, from Abu Salih Zakwan, from one of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, and he mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is sahih. Haythami mentioned it in Majmu (3/127) and said, "Its narrators are the narrators of the sahih."
