Ayesha gave something in charity, then asked Barirah to come and look at it. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do not count it, lest it be counted against you."
أن عائشة تصدقت بشيء، فأمرت بريرة أن تأتيها، فتنظر إليه. فقال النبي ﷺ: لا تحصي فيحصى عليك.
Imam Ahmad narrated it (24773) from Siraj, who said, Nafi narrated to us, from Ibn Abu Mulayka, that Ayesha, and he related it. Siraj is Ibn Numan, one of the men of Bukhari. Nafi is Ibn Umar bin Abdullah bin Jameel Jumahi, one of the men accepted by all the compilers.Abu Dawud narrated it (1700) through another route, from Abdullah bin Abu Mulayka, from Ayesha, that she mentioned a certain number of poor people, or a certain amount of charity, and the Prophet ﷺ said to her, "Give, and do not count, for then it will be counted against you."
