Abdullah bin Masud reported,
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When Allah speaks the revelation, the inhabitants of the heavens hear from the sky a ringing sound like the dragging of a chain across smooth stone, and they fall unconscious. They remain in that state until Jibreel 
comes to them, and when he reaches them, the terror is lifted from their hearts.They ask, 'Jibreel, what did your Lord say?'He answers, 'The truth.'They then say, 'The truth, the truth.'"

قال رسول الله ﷺ: إذا تكلم الله بالوحي سمع أهل السماء للسماء صلصلة كجر السلسلة على الصفا، فيصعقون، فلا يزالون كذلك حتى يأتيهم جبريل عليه السلام، حتى إذا أتاهم جبريل فزع عن قلوبهم. قال: فيقولون: يا جبريل، ماذا قال ربك؟ فيقول: الحق. فيقولون: الحق الحق.
Abu Dawud narrated it (4738) from Ahmad bin Abu Siraj Razi, Ali bin Husayn bin Ibrahim, and Ali bin Muslim, who said, "Abu Muawiya narrated to us, Amash narrated to us, from Muslim, from Masruq, from Abdullah," and he related it.Ibn Khuzayma narrated it in Kitab Tawhid (280), and Ibn Hibban in his Sahih (37), both of them through the route of Ali bin Husayn bin Ibrahim alone, with his chain, in similar wording.Muslim here is Ibn Subayh Hamdani.It has also been narrated as mawquf, stopping at Abdullah bin Masud. Ibn Khuzayma narrated it through routes other than these, from Abu Muawiya. The ruling favors whoever attributed it to the Prophet, since they possess additional knowledge. Moreover, something like this cannot be known except through revelation. Ibn Masud used to mention this hadith in the tafsir of Allah's words, "until, when terror is removed from their hearts" [Saba 34:23]. So perhaps he himself sometimes attributed it to the Prophet and sometimes left it stopped at himself, depending on the circumstances.
was extremely cautious about attributing every hadith to the Prophetﷺ. Bukhari included it as a suspended report (13/452-453) from Masruq, from Abdullah bin Masud, who said, "When Allah speaks with revelation, the people of the heavens hear something. Then, when terror is removed from their hearts and the sound settles..." and he mentioned the rest similarly.
