We went on the expedition of Tabuk with the Prophet ﷺ. When he reached Wadi al-Qura, there was a woman in her orchard. The Prophet ﷺ said to his companions, "Estimate its yield."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ estimated it at ten wasqs and said to her, "Keep count of what it actually produces."When we arrived at Tabuk, he said, "A violent wind will blow tonight, so let no one stand up, and whoever has a camel with him should tether it firmly."We tethered our camels, and a violent wind blew. One man stood up, and the wind hurled him to the mountain of Tayy. The king of Aylah sent the Prophet ﷺ a white mule as a gift and clothed him in a robe, and the Prophet wrote him a treaty concerning their sea region. When he reached Wadi al-Qura on the return, he asked the woman, "How much did your orchard produce?"She replied, "Ten wasqs, exactly as the Messenger of Allah estimated."The Prophet ﷺ then said, "I am hastening to Madinah, so whoever among you wishes to hasten with me, let him do so."When, as Ibn Bakkar put it in words to that effect, he came in sight of Madinah, he said, "This is Tabah."When he saw Mount Uhud, he said, "This is a little mountain that loves us and we love it. Shall I tell you about the best of the houses of the Ansar?"They said, "Yes, please do."He said, "The houses of Banu al-Najjar, then the houses of Banu Abd al-Ashhal, then the houses of Banu Saidah, or the houses of Banu Harith bin Khazraj. And in all the houses of the Ansar there is good."
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Zakat (1481), from Sahl bin Bakkar, who said, Wahib told us, from Amr bin Yahya, from Abbas Saadi, from Abu Humayd Saadi, who said (and then he related it), and this is his wording.Muslim narrated it in both places, in the Book of Hajj (1392), from Abdullah bin Maslama Qanabi, who said, Abdullah Sulayman bin Bilal told us, from Amr bin Yahya, with his chain of transmission, in a shortened form, and he did not mention in it the story of estimating the yield. Then he narrated it in the Book of Virtues (1392:11) with the same chain of transmission, similar to the narration of Bukhari. His statement, "keep count," means, keep count of the measure of its yield. In the narration of Muslim it reads, "Keep count of it until we return to you, Allah willing."
