Abdullah bin Masud reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no man possessing wealth who fails to pay what is due on it but that it will be made into a collar around his neck, a bald-headed serpent, and he will flee from it while it pursues him."Then he recited its confirmation from the Book of Allah عز وجل, "And let not those who withhold miserly what Allah has given them of His bounty think that it is good for them. Rather, it is evil for them. What they withheld will be hung around their necks on the Day of Resurrection" [Al Imran 3:180].
