The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When the deceased is placed in the grave, the sun is made to appear before him at the moment of its setting. He then says, 'Let me pray.'"
قال رسول الله ﷺ: إذا دخل الميت القبر، متلت له الشمس عند غروبها، فيقول: دعوني أصلي.
Ibn Majah (4272) narrated it from Ismail bin Hafs Abili, who said, Abu Bakr bin Ayyash told us, from Amash, from Abu Sufyan, from Jabir, and he related it. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (3116) and narrated it through this same route. Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Ismail bin Hafs, about whom Nasai said, "I hope there is no harm in him," and Ibn Hibban mentioned him in Thiqat.As for Abu Bakr bin Ayyash, who is Asadi, Kufi, the grain-seller, the Quran reciter, there is disagreement about him, and the summary regarding him, as Ibn Adi said, is, "This Abu Bakr bin Ayyash is a well-known man of Kufa. He narrates from the most eminent people, and his hadith are abundant. A group of major scholars narrated from him, and his connected and truncated narrations are numerous. He is among the most famous teachers of Kufa and among those especially known for transmitting from a large number of their teachers. He is one of the Quran reciters of the people of Kufa, having taken the reading from Asim and having recited to him. In his narrations from everyone he transmitted from, there is no harm, for I have not found any objectionable hadith from him when a trustworthy narrator transmitted from him, except when a daif narrator transmitted from him."
